Idea:
Outdoor rowing machine made from a bike wheel etc, only the bike wheel has a dynamo and you can use it to charge stuff.
(Rowing machines are one of the best exercises for my jointcrap, but the gym smells and I don't have space for one inside.)
@artsyhonker yes! awesome!
@artsyhonker unfortunately using a bike (or any human mechanical energy...) to charge a battery is a pretty ineffcient conversion of power. Consider: ways you can use the VERY efficient mechanical energy of a cyclist (or rower) and convert it to ... other mechanical energy directly. Power a washing machine, power a blender, no electricity necessary!
@freewheelbikesmadison This is true, but the "use the power for Doing Things" part is secondary to the "rowing machine" part for me, and also I don't really have space for this project in the first place.
@freewheelbikesmadison Also I already have a spare bike wheel with a working dynamo, but I don't have a spare washing machine or blender.
