It's funny how redistribution of wealth is considered The socialist talking point whereas real socialists almost never actually talk about it. Probably to further the misunderstanding of what socialism is and perpetuate the idea that we want things that aren't rightfully ours

Socialists want compensation for the full value of our labor, democratic control of the structures we built and use, common ownership of the bounties of nature that no one has the right to hoard, and full control over our personal property without restrictions on use, repair, modification, etc

All of those things *are ours*, but they've been stolen from our ancestors. We just want them back

Redistributing the ill-gotten wealth from all of those things would be nice but isn't really required to be honest. Most of it is just paper or bytes, and we won't have much use for that

@socalledunitedstates really? i can't think of a single successful socialist revolution in history that didn't have as a central component the redistribution of wealth (not "paper and bytes" - land, houses, factories, etc). of course putting the economic forces that reproduce society under the control of the people who work them is the ongoing goal but how could that be done without a dramatic redistribution of wealth from the ruling class to the proletariat?

@lavender When liberals use the term they typically mean money, so I was talking about that. Scope my previous toot in this thread, I did acknowledge the need to redistribute material resources
