Keshitsubo are the smallest kind of bonsai tree, sometimes called "poppyseed size" in English. They're carefully maintained at heights of 3-8 cm.

@daniel_bohrer Yes, I imagine so. I've never kept bonsais, so I'm curious actually!
@InvaderXan I think it all comes down to the pruning and root boundedness in the pot. And maybe also starting with a branch that already has a good diameter to make a trunk, e.g. through a branch cutting, or air layering

I forgot to mention that in Japanese, they're nicknamed "mame bonsai". Mame means bean. Because they're cute and tiny little beans.
