Hey #SunbeamCity folks, last day to vote in this change to our CoC and Governing Policy:
A prior temperature check on Loomio suggested that SBC was generally against some of the provisions in this amendment, but it currently looks set to pass.
At present, among many other things, it would bar membership to you if you have a pension or work as a bouncer at a pub. It also doesn't suggest or limit appropriate ways of Sunbeam _learning_ you violate these new policies.
The Key Principles of the IndieWeb.
— Own your data, content, metadata and your identity.
— Publish data for humans first, machines second.
— Scratch Your Own Itches. Make tools, templates, etc. for yourself first.
— Use what you make!
— Document your stuff.
— Open source your stuff!
— UX and design is more important than protocols, formats, and data models.
— Build platform agnostic platforms.
— Longevity. Build for the long web.
— Have fun.
Hey @uonai you somewhere said something about ambient computing. The idea is fantastic to me.
I had a couple of the onion omega 2+'s laying around.
I now have a mesh of 7 devices that have the power light chip incorporated into themselves and basically siphoning some power from them.
Devices that before didn't do anything networked, no device interface yet but a mini mesh of communications is happening.
Still figuring what it'll do, currently just figuring out update propagation etc...
@uonai do one task per day, then take the rest of the day off, use that time to read, cycle and think about tomorrow’s one task.
Well gosh darnit, I burned myself out again writing software. Going to try to get back on track.
- Took it easy on dev (yesterday & today)
- Adding exercise (running & cycling)
- Setting short term, dev related goals
- Reading fiction
Anyone else have burnout tips / recommended reading on things works for you?
1) Aim in your work not for happiness, but for a goal you care about: improving the world, or even just applying and honing a skill you value.
2) Your work—and the rational thought it entails—will not suffice to make you happy; rational thought on its own will undermine your feelings.
3) You should therefore also cultivate your feelings: through nature, and through art.
