If you are going stir crazy in your homes, use this time to organize. There is so, so, so much to be done and its time to get to work. Our lives now depend on it. There are rent strikes to organize, a general strike to organize, there are DIY ventillators to be built, masks and gowns to be sewn from anything you can find, there are gardens to be planted, there are mouths to feed, sick the heal. The government will always fail us. We are the engines of innovation and there is much to do.
rent strike organizing Bay Area
My friend lives in Alameda Point and they are doing a rent deferment where tenants will pay back April's rent over a 6 month period or face eviction. With Covid-19 continuing its march over the financial security of poor workers like those that are crammed often 6,7,8 or more to houses built for half that on the Alameda Base this is woefully inadequate. please sign this petition to help residents get organized. Please Boost!
Does anybody know of any work from home opportunities right now? I am asking both for myself and a friend, both could use help getting through the quarantine. My friend does audio engineering as well as GIS work and has done conservation work in the past. I have been a personal chef, but before that worked in tech. I am proficient with *nix, Python, Julia, Bash, Apache, Nginx, MongoDB, (LAMP components) I’m comfortable with command line tools also good with analog electronics. Thanks.

It's a properly gender-inclusive social network/online dating site, with killer pronoun features, and we only need £150 to cover hosting costs for a year. :)
broke: worrying about a draft because of the war with Iran
woke: realizing the military won't draft because they know it decreases morale at home and they want to avoid Vietnam-style protests at all costs
bespoke: taking a page from Lenin's book and using the imperialist war as an opportunity to overthrow the fucking government
A seriously good read that clarifies how elite rich react differently from the rest of us in disasters. Key excerpt quoted below.
"Disaster experts can predict how most people will react: Most will try to work together to save the most people possible. .....
But there is a notable exception. The richest people on the ship are the least likely to cooperate. There is a formal term for this, based on a 2008 paper by the sociologists Caron Chess and Lee Clarke. It’s called “elite panic.” As Rebecca Solnit has written, “Elites tend to believe in a venal, selfish, and essentially monstrous version of human nature.” And as such, they believe that only “their power keeps the rest of us in line.” If the ship—or human society—is disrupted, they think, “our seething violence will rise to the surface.”
A couple of days ago I saw a thread going around, encouraging people to buy from disabled crafters this Christmas, so here's my #queer/trans/disabled contribution!
Joke, ableism but reversed
Diagnostic criteria for neurotypicality:
- Really loud for no good reason, not for stimming or anything, just knowingly loud, plays loud music in shopping centres
- Don't understand that you're supposed to actually say what you *mean*. They talk in vague terms for no real reason and that causes problems with social interaction. This is a serious problem which causes many misunderstandings and confusion.
NT: "wanna come over to my place"
Actual meaning: "would you like to have a sexual interaction with me?"
- Make eye contact when talking for some reason. Teach your child to look away if they do this.
- unable to have real interests. They tend to have trouble fixating on something specific. This is a big problem because how will they make friends if they don't have a special interest to talk about?
Please donate to NT speaks to cure this horrible disease. Thanks.
