And the polio vaccine, as well as a lot of the critical medical breakthroughs.
Capitalism doesn't invent shit. It doesn't even spark innovation. It actively hinders it by ensuring only those with money are allowed to choose how technology is created and used. Everyone else isn't allowed to do anything but grind the gears the rich tell 'em to.

- Open source software as a whole, whose organizations are non-profit and only there to ensure capitalism doesn't starve them for doing their passion.

#sundiy glue recipe! seems? to work so far. 300 ml (slightly more than 1 cup) milk, preferably skim. heat it to just slightly warm, then dump in 45 ml (3 tbsp) vinegar, stir until it starts to curdle. the curds will be smol. pour through a paper towel, collect the curds, and mix them with a shake of baking soda (I don't remember how much? just like, some?) and stir until it gets nice and stretchy gluey. then use it! yield was about 1.5 tbsp glue. store in the fridge. it can be rewarmed to use, and apparently has a shelf life of two weeks. it... seems.. so far... to be an effective wood glue, but large globs of it shrink a lot when it dries, so I definitely had to fill in with sawdust too

"We are not in the least afraid of ruins. We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that.
The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts. That world is growing in this minute.“ - Buenaventura Durruti
Let’s make a trans zine!
Now accepting submissions for
*TransMission(s)*, a collaborative zine by and for the transgender community. Our first issue will be under the theme of “Reclaiming our Narrative.” Our stories have been told by others for so long and consistently manipulated and warped to fit agendas and spread misinformation. When we speak with our own voice we back against these decades of gaslighting and lift each other up.
We’re looking for:
Any proceeds of sales will go to paying printing costs first, contributors second, and editors last.
Electricity strikers in France light up poor homes this Christmas... Cut power and gas to bosses and police
"There is no “Christmas truce” for the workers of the Electricity Company of France (EDF) who are on strike. Workers are reconnecting service to poor families and lowering the price of tariffs to popular sectors, while cutting off power to police stations, management and large companies.
"Since the beginning of the strike on December 5, electricians and energy workers maintain power outages against Macron’s pension reform. A fighting method that exposes the strength of the workers and the strategic place they occupy, with the possibility of paralyzing government buildings and large companies with power outages."
anyway whenever you buy something, you're paying for those popup ads, Super Bowl ads, those billboards, social media campaigns, movie tie-ins, lobbying, radio, TV, etc.
Even if it's something you just need to survive, the cost of all that is paid for by you.
In our system, this is taken for granted. Part of the cost of doing business. But we are making produced goods so much more expensive bc we produce more goods than we need and then make them compete with one another for market shares. How inefficient this is is never really discussed.
UK Home Office Consultation, state attacks on Roma and Irish Traveller communities
"13. To what extent do you agree or disagree that the police should be granted the power to seize property, including vehicles, from trespassers who are on land with the purpose of residing on it?"
The Home Office is openly considering the arbitrary seizure of peoples' housing. This directly breaks Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
This is a grim sign of things to come, setting the groundwork for the revocation of civil liberties. As pointed out by @alex, this would give police powers to enact genocide.
Please fill out the consultation, talk to your local Roma and Irish Traveller communities, organize your own community to help keep them safe from the fascist british state.
You can buy directly from #Zapatista collectives online and support #indigenous #anarchism in Central America! There's a whole load of stuff here - coffee, corn, clothing, boots, stickers, magnets, pencils, jewelry, literature, *ski masks*, etc, etc, etc - and it's all pay-what-you-can within a certain range. If you have to buy gifts, this is a good way to do it!
"It’s not fun to weigh in today amid the sadness of watching a triumphant, smug parade of Tory scumbags mouthing off about how they intend to stick it to the poor this time — but we can’t sit still when the new class war is on its way. The battle’s done – and we need more weapons"
