@h they're kind of on to actually? but yeah, for sure. a lot of what i see on here these days is "the reason i'm objecting to you is because you're aggressive" said in utter seriousness. it's the masto centrist reply guy version of "i have nazis in my replies on bird site, and support doesn't give a fuck...wait, support just banned me, nm"

it's slightly different on here with ableism, and i'm not entirely sure why. it's not that there's fewer ableists than racists on here, that's for sure
i think it's probably because it's "known" that just saying obviously racist things is not acceptable in a lot of corners of society (unless you're a congressperson or a billionaire), so they say centrist takes (that accomplish much of the same), and roll up into people's mentions

@h The display list I was referring to is more of a scene graph than a set of lowest-level instructions on what to draw and where (although it, of course, is that too).
The way CLIM uses it is as a means by which you write your code *as if* it were immediate-mode, but having the update efficiency of a retained mode interface.
Tagging objects with cache IDs (did this thing change since last time?) and unique IDs (did I delete/introduce this thing?) was the key which I missed.
It's damn clever.
