The photo doesn't quite capture how shiny the it actually is.
A quick note on improvements here: human survival is nowhere near the only thing that's getting better. Queer people are seeing more acceptance, the influence of nationalism is actually getting weaker (which is why they're driven to radicalism) social awareness regarding climate change is rapidly growing, even the general public begrudgingly acknowledges that widespread systematic racism exists and so on.
Far-right groups pop up in *reaction* to something after all.
Simply because *we* drive the social progress, regardless of how we think of ourselves. The idealised revolutionary who dedicates their life to progress doesn't actually exist. Ordinary human beings are the ones that push forward this society of ordinary human beings. Everyone does what they can and even the way you talk and act alters our culture. So, don't be so hard on yourself because you do more than you think you do and we're marching on in face of perils thanks to you.
Now I'm no Hegelian idealist and I don't buy into Whig historiography, but I also don't buy into accelerationism. Negative dialectics can and will hit the course of social progress pretty hard. But even then there's much hope to have and giving up is the last thing we need in this world, lest we surrender it to fascistic regression.
Red and bright bright green!
