"We must recognize, and loudly
proclaim, that every one, whatever his grade in the old society, whether strong or weak, capable or incapable, has, before everything, THE RIGHT TO LIVE, and that society is bound to share amongst all, without exception, the means of existence at its disposal. We must acknowledge this,
and proclaim it aloud, and act up to it."
-Peter Kropotkin, "The Conquest of Bread"
Honest "Free Speech"
Nobody is saying "I am offended and demand you stop saying this", please stop making shit up. What people might say is, "That's a fucked up thing to say and I don't want to be around people who say that".
Free speech advocates, in every single instance when I've encountered them, have wanted not only freedom from repercussions, but more importantly, freedom from being made to feel sad because they said something that upset someone.
They want us to remind them that they are, in fact, very nice, good boys, just like they've been told all along.
They're not racist because they don't *feel* racist. They're not homophobic because they don't feel it.
anyway I used to fear trying to grow plants from seeds. Now everything I plant grows.
Like literally, there are so many ways to give people housing, and so many houses already built, and so many materials that are nore sustainable to build houses out of.....
The "housing problem" isn't a problem of resources, as usual, it's a problem with those in power needing scarcity to keep the wheels turning.
There's a culture of negativity forming on the fediverse, similar to other platforms. The instinct is to call attention to it and critique it, but that itself is just creating more negativity
I think a better tactic is to make a conscious effort to create and spread more positive content, even simple stuff like the plants you're growing or the meal you're having
We can be both funny and kind. Humour doesn't need to be at the expense of someone or something else.
"I think... if it is true that
there are as many minds as there
are heads, then there are as many
kinds of love as there are hearts."
