Coming Out About A Thing (mental heath, mostly positive)

Pinned toot

Henlo, I鈥檓 new here!
I鈥檓 Aloysius (they/them). I care deeply about solarpunk and anarchism. I鈥檓 very interested in prehistoric life and evolutionary biology. And I love sci fi and fantasy stories (tho lately I much prefer ones with queer rep).

When two women love each other very much, a black cat shows up and moves in to their house. It鈥檚 science, or witchcraft; one of those.

If you ever need to get the point across to some nerd how fucking broken the patent system is, apparently WotC managed to patent ***TURNING A CARD SIDEWAYS***.

Holly Lisle, author of the Moon and Sun Trilogy, containing The Ruby Key and The Silver Door, is finally able to write the third book! The Emerald Sun. She has been working on it since last year and if you check her blog she has been making steady progress. Tho she might share spoilery little details and I didn't want to be too spoiled. I haven't read these books in like 10 years. Tbh I'm hoping they aged well... This was one of my all time favorite series as a kid/youth.

Food, brainweirdness?

Realizing that the Cretaceous was the longest period in the Phanerozoic. I never noticed that and it's kinda wild to me, it lasted longer than the Cambrian.

This is coming from a place of making a living wage but

鈥楥apital stealing the value of my labor鈥 doesn鈥檛 feel nearly as important as capital stealing my LIFE.

40 hours of my week + recovery time. My education choices. Where I can live. Whether I own a pet. Capitalism limits all the wonderful things I could do in life.

I know money can acquire some of these things. I just think the phrase 鈥榗apitalism steals the value of your labor鈥 isn鈥檛 communicating well how much capitalism steals from us.

what you say: the art market is saturated!

what i hear: capitalism has utterly failed at satisfying the need of humans to self actualize

@socalledunitedstates @DarklyScrawled @queeranarchism plus! privileged anarchists have a better chance of succeeding at stealing. the only reason I get away with it so much is cause everyone thinks I'm this harmless little white girl. privileged anarchists can steal things their less privileged comrades need, because they will face less consequences if they are caught, and they're less likely to be caught in the first place

Godddd stop spreading the propaganda that entry-level retail workers are punished for other people's shoplifting. They aren't! I've worked retail for 4 years at 5 different places (Walgreens, Target - at 2 locations, Sam's, and 2 local places) and have never heard of this happening. Shrinkage is considered part of expenses, entry-level employees aren't expected to stop shoplifting (and are more often explicitly told not to), and this is definitely against company policy at any big chain

I'm sure it does happen under the table or at small businesses, but people talk about it like it's guaranteed every time you nick a drink. It's fucking not, and by saying this every single time someone talks about theft you're doing exactly what the capitalists - including the ones who enact this policy - want. They're holding workers hostage and you're giving in to their demands

Boosts appreciated
