"Spotlight: Mr. Mummy (Dr. Bob Brier, Egyptologist)"
@wabbster Thank you for sharing the awesome star wars theme song played on the bagpipes with me. Lol love it!! 🙏♥️
People always go on about finding Cleopatra’s grave but they are completely forgetting the circumstances of her death. She killed herself so that she could not be paraded through Egypt and Rome by the Romans, and its unlikely she would have wanted her body to suffer the same humiliation, so it’s reasonable to assume that her body would have been destroyed before the conquering forces got there. Moreover, even if that failed, the Romans would never give her a proper Egyptian burial and would have either destroyed her body or saw that it was disposed of without honours, ie in a pauper’s grave. It is therefore incredibly unlikely that we shall ever find the tomb of Cleopatra, and indeed, that it ever existed in the first place. History is written by the victors, afterall, as these ancient rulers were well aware.
Three generations of ancient women warriors were recently uncovered in a Russian tomb. Buried with dozens of weapons, including knives and an iron hook in the shape of a bird, they date back to the 4th century B.C.: https://bit.ly/2uAocC1
