Why is everyone talking about right shift? I didn't even know there was a right shift

I currently have my recently retired OnePlus 3 acting as a simple file sync controller with syncthing, which keeps my text notes on my phone and PC up to date with each other, even when they aren't necessarily online at the same time.

Is anyone working on any cool projects? I'm trying to find a good use for old smartphones that can't really be used as a phone anymore.

I want to power one with solar, and run some basic home/garden automation off of it.
