I don't think silencing mastodon.social makes sense, the problems with ms are exaggerated some people look for things to use against gargron, which are often misrepresented.
The issue of the size of ms relative to the rest of the fedivers is much less severe than it used to be, sign ups are closed and ms users are not a major nuisance that I've noticed

Also unless things have changed silencing an instant brakes threads for people on the instance doing the silencing, which is inconvenient

I think that people are most likely to move to other instances if they interact with people on other instances, so it's possible hindering communication would be counter productive to this goal

@radikalgrafitio That's why I made an account on a big server, but all I do with it is boost stuff I wanna comment on, so I can use my personal account to do so. Be nice if there was an automatic way to do that.

Truly, we should have accounts named named by public key, so that we can change instances if our instance gets corrupted and publically silenced, without losing all our friendships and trust relationships. We could even have the same account on multiple instances, so mstdn.io would know cy@0ac7da56 was reading their public feed, rather than have to guess that cy@mstdn.io and cy@verge.info.tm are the same. #cryptography rocks!
