I disagree with all of my heart.
Do you really want your policeman to program? Your teacher and baker to do so? I want them to be specialists in their own topics and if they code - that's awesome, but they should not be forced to.
Making coding easier to start is nice, but we cannot demand that people do that.
Seriously, I cannot emphasize this more. We need politicians. Policemen. Storytellers. Plumbers.
They don't need to be coders at the same time

There’s that word “code”. That word makes programming sound mysterious or magical. When you program a coffeemaker we don’t call it coding.
I want people to use tools that are optimized for the tasks they need to do, and that work better the more they use them.
If you need a general-purpose computer, then you need to be able to program it.
