Considering doing an email newsletter to stay in touch with people who I can’t drag away from Facebook but who still want updates on various projects.
The web suggests I use “tinyletter.com” which looks cool but is Mailchimp, and they are not exactly respectful of privacy.
Any suggestions for a #FOSS, self-hosted alternative? I run my own mail server so maybe a simple distribution list or the like?
I don’t need metrics/etc., just deliverability :)
@jjg I don't have a newsletter, but I have had websites for others who had the need.
I don't know how many people you need to send out to, but after even 50-100 goog, microsoft, yahoo and others will reject your mails - you only get to send, say, 50/day from a single ip. This pretty much forces you into the arms of an outfit like mailchimp if you want to be timely. Otherwise posfix can and will keep trying for days until you get it all out.
Mailchimp irritated me. I liked mailgun in the end.
@gemlog fortunately my numbers are pretty low, and nothing too time critical.
@jjg You'll be fine with just postfix then - or your chosen poison.
