@hellomiakoda wow this is the most relatable website I've ever been on

@hazelnot It is... but the people who run it are pretty mean. I am too autistic for them. My digging to find a way to reach them to ask them to simply tick a box on their rss settings so their content would be more accessible to me was deamed unacceptably rude. Instead of merely denying my request, they blocked me and then got pissed when I shared this experience.

The articles are still funny though, and I found a way to mod the feed to make it work anyway

@hellomiakoda now I feel bad for sharing this with others >.>

@hazelnot If you dont give them any money, it should be fine.

@hellomiakoda eh I don't use RSS readers (too much ADHD to not just forget they exist after about a week) and I don't wanna look at their stuff anymore since they're fucking assholes so fuck them

@hazelnot Funny, AuDHD is precisely why I prefer rss. lol
If you met one... you've met one

hazelnot :yell:

@hellomiakoda I mean, I've tried using RSS before, and it worked for a bit, but every reader app I've tried has had Issues and then I went away for a while and forgot I even had it installed lmao

The best one I used was the Gnome one, but I'm on KDE now and the Gnome one looks out of place 😔

Also some of the websites I wanted to use just didn't have RSS feeds at all so I kinda just abandoned the whole idea

@hellomiakoda Ohhhh ok I know why I gave up on them

Akregator kept giving me an "Akregator did not close correctly" message every time I launched it and it didn't store the state of anything so everything just showed up as unread no matter what 💀

@hazelnot I cant rember off hand the name of what I use on my KDE laptops

@hazelnot The local paper (lol "paper") here had an RSS feed tht cut off the articles. Useless. I contacted them, explained why this sucks and nicely asked them to turn on full text. They did!
They also thanked me for lointing out why "just click through to the web" isn't a hekpful solution - I can't store them for offline reading, people with alternative displays or screen readers can't easily make use of this, and those of us eho really benefit from uniform text or other text settings need it.

@hellomiakoda Most websites I tried to add have the cutoff thing, but I wouldn't contact them cause they'd probably just tell me to fuck off and use the website so they can make money from ads

@hazelnot Shorten the URL of the modded DailyTism rss link and you'll find the tool that can fix that

@hellomiakoda I'm surprised it exists cause when I looked for something like this then all wanted a monthly subscription from me (or for me to self-host a server that does this)

@hazelnot I did a autistic amount of searching for it. Spite also helped fuel the search

@hellomiakoda haha I love "autistic amount of searching", I love looking things up, digging into stuff, searching and researching
