God I wish Stardew Valley didn't stress me out so hard :<

Some people get all bachelors to 4 hearts by the first year flower dance just to flex and I'm almost at that point and only have one heart, with Linus somehow 💀

Keeping up with social interactions is very hard when I also wanna do stuff like fish or forage or whatever :<

Genuine question, does anyone have any tips for dealing with this stuff? It's supposed to be a super cozy game but there's so much stuff to do and keep track of and time passes so quickly

@hazelnot researching who likes what and keeping the stuff in chests.
Doing the gifts on rainy days or after watering crops. Looking at the luck in the tv to see when it's not worth mining is a good thing too. Going to the mine? Take stuff for the people living near there. Having to give stuff to clint or donating it to the museum? Take gifts for the npcs who are there. Researching to know which npc is where at what time and who likes what is a good idea.
Also, gifting at bdays is great.

@hazelnot there are things everyone likes and stuff everyone hates but giving them their favorite things is the easiest way to gain hearts

@CAETFOOD Keeping track of all of that sounds even more stressful 😭

Maybe this game just isn't for me >.>

@hazelnot if you play it long enough you naturally remember who usually is where and also what their favorite things are

@CAETFOOD But I can't play it long enough cause it's too stressful so I keep giving up on it 💀

@hazelnot you can also just choose one you like and focus on that one to romance them

Or get mods. There are a few convenience and quality of life mods that remind you of that stuff and also tell you the luck of the day and shows who is where on the map and other stuff.

@hazelnot there are also mods that let time stop whenever you want it, for example when you're in the mines or in buildings

@CAETFOOD That sounds really cheaty, I don't wanna use something like that

I do have the NPC map markers mod though 😅

@hazelnot if you don't want to do challenges and just want to chill, you could either keep it vanilla and play in your own pace without setting yourself time limits or you could do things to make it easier for yourself.
And if you don't enjoy chilling and farming and occassionally interacting with the npcs it is your choice too.

I enjoy it a lot. There's no consequences or time limits. You could spend all the time ignoring the npcs or spend all your time on fishing only and it's no problem

@CAETFOOD I'm not setting time limits, but I feel like others set them just cause I saw some reddit threads and YouTube videos where people seem to just, expect everyone to be as good at the game as they are and do the community center in 1 year and stuff like that

@hazelnot how you play your game is your choice.
You can make multiple farms and do what your goal is on the farms. One for speedrunning charming your favorite.
One for getting fishing level whatever fast.
One to reach mine levels or do combat.
And when you learned enough it's valid to use your own favorite hacks to get through the game as smooth as you like. Looking up stardew life hacks is valid. Don't let them bother you just because they spend 8 hours a day speedrunning a chill game.

@CAETFOOD I guess, idk, it feels like my goal is to somehow do everything, idk

At this point I'm trying to basically rewire myself into not stressing out about a game that's supposed to be taken slowly and be cozy and stuff

@hazelnot yeah. It's not ideal for speedrunning. The speedrunners are kinda weird tbh, they miss out on all the fun little stories and quests and the silly reactions.
Digging through trash and picking up shit and upgrading the house are my personal faves but also, going to the bath house for no reason. I waste lots of time but i don't care tbh, nobody can tell me how to play the game and if i wanna dig around in the sand on the beach all day just because i want to, it's my choice :33

@CAETFOOD Eh, speedrunners usually start speedrunning a game after they've already played through it normally a lot

They've probably already done all the quests and seen all the stories and stuff

But yeah I'm mainly worried about being too antisocial tbh

@hazelnot yeah usually they've played it so much that they need new challenges.
I've started new farms whenever i felt bored with the grind, i don't even care Haha

@hazelnot stardew valley is very chill, nobody forces you to do speedruns. Just like in minecraft, you're only limited by what your goals are and how much stress you're willing to put up with to reach it. In vanilla stardew i haven't once reached the deep caverns or gone to the desert because i was more intrested in getting pets and foraging and fishing in the woods haha

@CAETFOOD Idk I feel like I'm missing out if I don't do everything the game has to offer, and like, I'm not trying to speedrun but I can't help but feel bad about myself for being worse at the game than most people >.>

@hazelnot you got all the time in the world. You can be in year 30 and decide that you wanna be friends with a character you grew attached to.
I like to visit Evelyn and George just for getting headpats from granny and listening to george bicker about random shit.
I enjoy just exploring and talking to the npcs when I'm annoyed with fishing or watering plants or going to the mines. My attention shifts to whatever i like most cause the only thing that really takes attention are crops and animals.

@CAETFOOD I know, I just... idk, I don't know how to stop competing with people I don't know over stuff I'm not even sure I care about except for the purposes of not feeling inferior 💀

@hazelnot my advice? don't worry about it.

Also? the no friendship decay mod

@Rasp I can't not worry about it, I feel like I'm wasting time and it seems like everyone else basically finishes the game in 1-2 in-game years

Also the no friendship decay mod feels unrealistic and cheaty so I don't wanna use it

@hazelnot I wouldn't worry as much about how fast other people who have 500+ hours in stardew are finishing shit

@hazelnot I say as someone with 500+ hours

@Rasp I am apparently incapable of seeing everything as a competition unfortunately, so I feel like I have to be Good at Stardew Valley™️ for it to be worth playing 💀
