Because my wife is from Mexico City, I am, via her and her friends, mildly plugged into Mexican twitter and facebook. Recently the President of Mexico has demanded an apology from Spain for colonialism and the takes and the memes in response have been *chefs kiss*

In all seriousness tho, it would be nice if like, the gold could come back? Like all the fucking money that was brutally extracted from the country? Or even just the thousands of mesoamerican artifacts that are just sitting in Madrid? That'd be nice to get back.

@MordecaiPinhas actually they asked Spain to apologize for how Spanish expeditions treated (enslaved, abused and slaughtered) the indigenous people of what is now know as Mexico. An apology costs nothing but Spain, another little facist strong hold but no, Spain said "how can you judge actions from 500 years ago!?". Yes toture and murder were all the rage 500 years ago and completely accepted. You think those catholics would have some book that says something like don't murder ppl.
@MordecaiPinhas if they bring back Tenochtitlan with all of the self sustaining urban agriculture on a city in a lake, then I am ALL for this move
@CornishRepublicanArmy On a related note, los chilangos, the residents of Mexico City, are weirdly resigned to the city completely flooding again. Whenever it rains and everything floods, they sigh happily and say, "it was a lake and it will be a lake"
