"Canadian" sorry and "Canadian" eh are just 1-1 direct translations for french words. There is no uber politeness. We are just saying
"excusez-moi," and "pardon" all the time, but in english.
Yet many WASP Canadians say french people are brusque and rude... where do you think you got your famous politeness from? The people who were here before you.
Eh? is just Aie from Joile (a local dialect, almost a Québecois equivalent of AAVE, it has both an ethnic association and working class connotations). That's it, and it's more versatile and charming in french. Sorry.
