"It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the tragic death of our friend, colleague, volunteer and board member. Manuel "Torguita" Paez Teran was killed by the Georgia Highway Patrol in an incident in Atlanta, Georgia, yesterday. They were doing what they love, standing up for the people, defending a national forest from being destroyed. They were instrumental in creating our space in Railroad Village and started a mutual aid society for the Bond Community that helped support many of our neighbors. We will be working with others in the community to memorialize them, their contributions and experiences throughout our region." -Indaba Theatre of Florida
