You'd have to have never talked to a single real retail worker in your life to believe this, because it's top-to-bottom absurd. I worked retail for over 4 years and have never even heard this talked about. It just doesn't happen, folks
The only time I was punished for anything related to shoplifting is when I was the one who lifted!
And considering this only happened to me *once*, despite me stealing almost daily from almost all of my jobs, tells you that this is straight-up bullshit
Like these people really must be naive enough to think lifting is this rare and unexpected thing, lmao. If someone got fired *every time* something was stolen, there would be exactly 0 retail workers anywhere in the world
