"Is LineageOS without Google apps 100% Google-free?": No, it isn't.
– some LOS services like NetworkMonitor still connect to Google (https://github.com/LineageOS/android_frameworks_base/blob/lineage-16.0/services/core/java/com/android/server/connectivity/NetworkMonitor.java)
– some settings like the phone's DNS server can still send data to Google
– besides, LOS, many apps, and the whole internet heavily rely on libraries, protocols, and standards (e.g. HTTP/2, Certificate Transparency) developed by Google, so there will never be a "100% Google-free something" for average users

The web browser Brave is marketed as a privacy-friendly ad-free alternative, but that's pretty disingenuous.
Brave exists not to protect privacy, but to make money from selling ads.
Brave is a commercial company funded by venture capital. Its business model is selling advertising and cryptocurrency investment.
One of Brave's owners is Peter Thiel's Founders Fund. Thiel is also the head of Palantir (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palantir_Technologies) and on the board of Facebook.
I do not recommend using Brave.
This has been a long time coming.

Tidbit: There's a reason in the Budgie screenshot for Solus 4, Sort of Revolution by Fink is the song. Lyrics kinda resonate (as does the codename).
We've come so far, it feels so real.
All this time, that we've waited for it.
And who we are, and where we're going to.
All this time, preparing for it.
Also simply: "We'll organise a sort of revolution."
#HelloWorld! As active members of the open-source community, ProtonMail supports open source projects like Mastodon. Mastodon’s decentralized nature reminds us of the days when the Internet was free and not under the control of a few monopolist giants. Our followers can look forward to toots about service updates, new projects, and news on privacy.
Your attention please!
Joke is also active on Mastodon (and therefore the Fediverse) under the alias @Jo.
Her arrest was not a surprise, cause she lost earlier this month her last appeal. She must go to jail cause she first published alleged seditious texts, criticizing in her unique creative style the Dutch #asylum policy. The second reason was an action in a municipal council chamber against the #deportation of children and their families. So yes, she has to go to jail because of a now forbidden text and a non-violent action.

This is the side of the #Netherlands you don't hear about comrades. So please don't think this country is a free haven. It' s a neo-liberal tax haven, and don't you dare to criticize the state. Of course the Dutch national media is silent about this and that in the same week as a near government coalition conflict about child deportation.
Please boost to show your #solidarity!
