Playing a bunch of Stardew Valley again the last few evenings. It's obviously #solarpunk, but it occurred to me the degree to which its conception of farming relies on advanced automation, too. Raw ingredients, which practically self-harvest, are processed into "artisanal" goods using craft stations that take hours but no further effort from the operator. Far from being a "back to basics" anprim setting, it's an advanced technology eutopia of local farmers using robots to fight capitalism.

"When some protesters destroy cars and burn shops, they symbolically attack private property that is the basis of capitalism. When they attack police officers, they symbolically reject and challenge repressive state forces - forces that primarily protect the capital."
She also calls for the redistribution of wealth.
When I say something like "intersection of free software, feminism, and solarpunk", I mean it with the deepest sadness that free software tends to be heavily colonized by righty tech bros.
Stallman was right, but he tends to not think that much about issues that aren't directly related to software.
And it's a great shame, because free software and copyleft generally are fundamentally very leftist concepts, that I'm sad to often see be dismissed by my activist friends.
Remember when you clicked a serious cw and it was exactly the tone you expected?
Remember the days before people thought it was funny to drop in pee jokes to 'relieve tension' when serious stuff was getting discussed?
Remember back when dscourse cw's actually meant something, and weren't just being used as a tired fucking joke?
Remember how we took on a whole bunch of newbies that still need to learn the culture around cw's ?
Haha good times. Yeah.

"By adopting Chromium, Microsoft hands over control of even more of online life to Google... We compete with Google not because it’s a good business opportunity. We compete with Google because the health of the internet and online life depend on competition and choice."
I made this account few days ago, but might be reasonable to write a short #introduction now.

"Various kinds of nerd, spooky SJW, code witch, and Sauron apologist.
I'll probably rant about the intersection of free software, feminism, and solarpunk."
I have enjoyed solarpunk since finding it, at least as an aesthetic and genre, but have also wanted find some community of like-minded people. This might be a good place!

Sunbeam City is a Libertarian Socialist solarpunk instance. It is ran democratically by a cooperative of like-minded individuals.
