This. This is what I've been trying to say about all the of the "can't we just unite / talk to each other / be civil" crap flying around. http://time.com/5434381/tayari-jones-moral-middle-myth/
Fuck, why is literally everything organized through facebook? Is there really no other platform that we have to organize events on? So many of my local affinity groups have dead websites but thriving facebook feeds.
What can I do? Will I just have to keep visiting these facebook pages to check if they have anything going on?

voting again, sorry it's all people in the states seem to talk to me about / caps Show more
I honestly don't understand why telling people "I already voted" isn't enough to get them to stop with the "voting is the answer" rhetoric.
Whatever you think of voting it's not a fucking magic wand. I want you to treat me like a human and sit with me for 5 minutes. Acknowledge this pain and rage is real. Conspire WITH me. Sure ONE of those tactics may be voting, but again ... I ALREADY DID THAT!
Gardening and DIY are important not just because it gives people more independence and saves them money, but because it de-alienates them from their labor. There are few types of propaganda more potent than excitedly checking your peppers several times a day and thinking to yourself, "what if all work was this fulfilling"
"Kindness is the most punk thing there is" is a sentiment I strongly either agree or disagree with depending on its use
"Our resistance should be based on compassionately providing aid to others" 👍
"Why do you need to tangibly oppose our oppressors when you can just smile at strangers or pay it forward at Starbucks :)" 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Things I learned from Star Wars: The Last Jedi:
• The most heroic acts are those done in defence of others
• The most dangerous people are angsty, power hungry white dudes who pretend to be your friend
If the state attorneys attempting to ban 3D design files of guns are successful, they will bypass legal doctrines that we also rely on to protect your right to encrypt and your right to advocate for social change. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2018/08/internet-publication-3d-printing-files-about-guns-facts-and-whats-stake
I find it remains one of the English language's worst shortcomings that "I empathize with you" and "I did something wrong and wish to apologize" both take the form of "I'm sorry".

gripe: they need to include ABA in that, from what I'm hearing. (which can include forced gender complicance, apparently).

still, good news
I’m sick to death of people being precious about #GMO produce. Functionally there is no difference between a grape bred to have little or no seed and a grape that has been modified in a lab for the same thing. Y’all are just scared of science.
You wanna talk about #Monsanto charging for “licenses” for their crops, ok. Talk about agribusiness killing the planet, ok. Talk about corporations copyrighting genetic code, ok. These are all valid concerns.
But the science is sound.
Is one of the reasons I am completely against attempts to try and get payment processors to cut off service to various people, groups, or industries. It is, as far as I am concerned, simply not a thing payment processors should be legally allowed to do.

I thought this was a really interesting take: https://medium.com/@dr_eprice/laziness-does-not-exist-3af27e312d01
I made a rule a little while back that I would stop calling myself "lazy". (Often this means swapping in "tired" or "unmotivated" or whatever the actual problem is.) It's actually been pretty great for my mental health, since I'm no longer blaming myself when I don't feel up to doing something right that moment.

In the #NY14 democratic primary, Democratic Socialist and Latina Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez beat out incumbent establishment Democrat Joe Crowley, while running an outsider campaign that included calls to abolish ICE months before the family separation crisis.
Not only did she win, she won in a landslide (Up ~15% near the end) against a 10-term incumbent with deep pockets. Now she's running for House in a deeply blue district.
