as far as i'm concerned, shoes are PPE, and like my welding gloves, i'll wear them when the situation calls for them, but not as a matter of course. #barefoot

wish these obnoxious dudes would quit loudly bragging about their grades right before the final.
so, i bought this old corded telephone at goodwill to cannibalize for parts for my headphones project. unfortunately, it turned out to not have two matching speakers in it, but it has got an lcd display and nice big chunky buttons on the base, and i'm considering replacing its guts to turn it into a giant, phone shaped calculator.

Honestly having a fast food chain with a walk-up window that provides free, relatively nutritious food to everyone is kinda fantastic.
Even under capitalism, just pick a nationwide chain, subsidize them 150% cost per item given away, and place government-operated franchises in poor neighborhoods.
Be a damn sight better use of taxpayer dollars than paying truckloads of money for planes that don't fly and vacations for Cabinet members.
okay this may sound really dumb but I'm gonna ask it anyway (sustainability, music, computers) Show more
I'm thinking about trying to experiment with synthesizers to make music, but I want to make music for a more sustainable world. I already worry about the electricity used, but I'm certain we can figure out a way to make that not as much of an issue. The components that make up electronics and electronic instruments are what I'm more worried about. I'm having trouble researching how sustainable making computer chips and circuit boards and etc is. Can anyone help me out?
I want to write a free, copyleft book about how to thrive on low income in the USA, because all the books on personal finance give advice like "don't buy a latte every day," instead of "first, get your staples at the food bank, and *then* any other food via food stamps."
I've been writing an outline, and I need more sources. What books and links can you tell me about that are like more the food stamp example? (And please retoot!)

I finally wrote the article about Solarpunk Wallflowers. Thanks to everyone who participated in the poll to help! :)
I love that i'm seeing more people, kids and adults, wearing isolation headphones in public. I assume the schools have finally caught on to the idea that our world is Too Loud for autistic and ADHD etc folks. One school I worked with even had a Quiet Room with foam and stim toys and noise reduction. 😍
