Fun fact: the first sunglasses were invented by the Inuit and Yupik people to prevent snowblindness. They were carved from spruce driftwood, caribou antler, walrus ivory, bone and other materials. They work by reducing the amount of light that comes in rather than by filtering. They can also improve visual acuity.
