@hazelnot its not a super intense one and its less about combos and more letting you set which abilities are mapped to which buttons. You can also hold down a trigger and you'll be able to move freely rather than be locked to a 2d plane. So you can just walk around enemies if say there is a caster who is going to be really annoying if you leave them be.

You can also control any character in the party by putting them in the first party slot. Actually I'm pretty sure the entire party can be player controlled, you just need extras controllers.

I usually control Estelle because she is overly passive even if you tweak her AI not to be.

@hazelnot Also if you happen to get the definitive edition it dumps a huge amount of DLC into the last tab of your inventory, many of them are cosmetics that you can apply whenever that character is in the party.... it does kind of spoil which characters join the party but that's probably not the biggest deal.
