I've decided to repair, repaint, and revamp my #bike.
I picked up this old Barracuda #bike about a decade ago. It was a replacement for an old used bike that got stolen off the street in the middle of the night in #DC. The Barracuda was used when I bought it, but it got me around the city just fine.
When my then-girlfriend and I moved out to #Virginia together, I tethered my bike to a bike rack and... never road it again. From then on, I was always connected to public transportation or a car.
Flash forward eight years, and we've bought a house, and I want a way to get to the library on the other side of town without a car. But, I want to do this in style. So first I'm going to disassemble the bike, before I get it back into working order.
I plan to paint this thing, so I need to remove the break lines. I'm taking a ton of pictures to remind myself how this all fits back together when I'm done.
Possibly the part I'm most excited about is replacing the seat. For some ridiculous reason I never decided to replace the seat of my old bike.
It was, shall we say, uncomfortable.
But NOW, look at this ultra padded seat I've obtained for myself! It's like I'll be sitting on a fluffy cloud!
The bike, by the way, appears to be the 1995 Barracuda A2R mountain bike. So my bike was already 19 years old when I bought it, and now it's pushing thirty! Fun to think I'm riding around a design with a bit of history.
I paid off my college loans, and you know what?
I'm just fine with this decision. College should be cheaper.
Not to mention that people who aren't in debt spend money on goods and services, y'all.
