We don't even need to separate universities and vocational schools. Why not just let people fucking double major in being an electrician and literature

@bedap In Canada there's a wierd thing where "College" is used to refer to kinda-sorta mixes of vocational schools and comunity colleges so one class room could be teaching a highly practice focused form of computer programing while the next is teaching novice electritians. Some even have arrangements with full universities so credits can be transferred from the computer programing to a full computer sciences degree.

It's not exactly the same as what you're saying but it's close enough to be notable.

@bedap we have here a split between vocational secondary school and what you in the US call high school. after secondary school, people can take a national test in various subjects and the results are used when applying to uni. uni (mostly free btw) calculates your points based on those exams, your secondary school average, extra points for competitions and certain certifications, and certain faculties have an extra exam. if you want, you can go from vocational to uni
