that's missing the context. Namely that it doesn't require a client (in browser is fine), that the choice was based mastodons use of discord (meaning a lot of people familiar with the codebase have access), and that one main topic of discussion is "what are we moving to for actual development"

Which answer is going to upset you more? "No, things like 'the software used to discuss development' is important and people should have a say and offer perspectives" or "Yes, it's being worked on now while co-ordinating over the software you don't like, but there is a discussion about moving too"

Do you feel that they should be? I'm not sure if I like the idea of using discord for development myself. I hear a lot of developers won't even install it!

And to you! If you had any more thoughts on how the fork should manage communication then be sure to pop in.
Of course if you have a philosophical objection to how it's being organized, that's fine too.

I can see your point! But likewise I hope you can see that actually having a plan and some input from everyone instead of pushing stuff out there with no reasoning is kinda the point of wanting the fork? Starting as you mean to go on is important.

@Ashrand Maybe. I'm also not interested in having anything to do with the flamewar artists who seem to be running the thing. But if actual developers want to be organized by selfie queens, by all means go for it.

But as I keep pointing out, there is no code yet. There is no fork. Just a lot of talk.

Well then we go back round in circles. Who is 'running the thing' is also something worth discussing first, and people trying to jump into things without figuring that out causes the same problems it's trying to address. You don't need to agree with how it's done, and the handy use of a tag means you can filter discussion of it if you really want.

I caution you against the eternal circlejerk that social networking has to offer. I encourage you to write code and fork any project you like.
