Language has changed before. Language can and will change again. Words carry cultural connotations and meanings outside their accepted dictionary definitions, and even these can, will, and do change over time. Those changes are mediated by cultural and sociological shifts, as well as colloquial usage.

If you shy away from that, maybe communicating with people is not for you.

Post-colonial discourse is aggressively Eurocentric. It elides historical facts in order not only to create uniqueness, but also to remove agency.

Example of the first case : the Inca Empire systematically extirpated the languages of subjugated peoples.
Example of the second : Cortez marched on the Valley of Mexico with a large indigenous army, raised by polities which had had enough of the Aztecs.

You're going to an awful lot of effort to justify why you want to retain outdated language and not simply use a handful of slightly different words which are free of harmful connotations.

Perhaps you should ask yourself why the word "colonisation" is so important to you. As you yourself say so adamantly, it's nothing more than a matter of semantics.

aye, that's why I was thinking. about two thirds of the points made are correct, but entirely irrelevant in this context.

@anarchiv @InvaderXan it's funny how much this actually reminds me of neoliberal taking points, where you listen, and go, mhm, mhm, mhm, this all sounds very reasonable

and the other person goes: yes, i'm glad you agree, and that's why we should <goes entirely off the rails in a train wreck that you cannot look away from>!
