The oldest seed ever germinated was a 2000 year old Judean date palm seed, found in an archaeological site near the Dead Sea. These trees were previously extinct since the 6th century, but this one, named Methusalah (obvs), is still thriving as far as I know!

@JMenoux Sadly, this is not uncommon. Even well meaning humans can easily do more harm than good.
