Got better things to do when election night rolls around? So do we! Join #Edinburgh GAF this Thursday 12th December at 20:00 in the Autonomous Centre of Edinburgh, where we'll be screening Invasion (a documentary about the Unistoten camp) and Prelude to Disaster (the latest episode of @submedia's Trouble) and holding a discussion about each of them.
1. What are the tactical & strategic differences available to you, based on whether you live in a big city, a small town, or a rural area? What are some of the strengths and weaknesses of each terrain, as it relates to their potential for struggle?
2.What type of organizational structure would be required in order to combine the strengths and compensate for the weaknesses of these terrains? What steps would be involved in setting up this type of network?
3. What kind of role do you see non-violent advocacy groups like Extinction Rebellion playing in the so-called ‘climate movement’?
4. Climate change is often presented in apocalyptic, ‘end of the world’ terms. What effects do you think that this discourse has on resistance movements and broader society?
5. Is it possible for cities to be sustainable? What level of environmental impact is justified in maintaining their benefits, and what practical steps could be taken to make them more sustainable?
