Hey #esperanto speakers (especially #genderqueer ones), what is/are the third person neutral pronoun(s)? I saw the debate on ĝi and li, what is commonly used?
I also appreciate any article on gender in esperanto.

The most common is actually "tiu". It is called a "correlative", but it works well as a pronoun.
- Tiu (persono) volas la pomon.
- Mi volas la pomon de tiu (persono).
- Mi ŝatas tiun (personon)
"Li" is masculine. It was used as a epicene by some people 130 years ago. Almost no one understand it as an epicene now, so don't use it.

"Ĝi" is used as a neutral pronoun time to time. You can use it, but some people don't like that the same pronoun is used for humans and objects, even if this is done (but rarely) in Esperanto since the beginning.

"Ri" is a pronoun, that is quite new (around 40 years old). I guess around half of the Esperantists can understand it. It varies widely depending on the community. For some it is an everyday word, for some it is just a craze.
"Ri" is sometimes prefered to "Ĝi" because it is more precise. "Ĝi" can refer to any element of the previous sentence, but with "Ri", it is clear that it is about a person.

Pardonu min por la supozo. Mi scias ke iuj da homoj ne ŝatas "ĝi" ĉar ili opinias ke ĝi estas negativa. Mi ne scias mian opinion pri "ri". Eble nenecesa?

Ne zorgu, estas komprenebla. "Ĝi" estus tradukita per "ça" en la franca kaj estas objektifiganta, sed ĉar mi estas ankaŭ komencanto, mi ne havis tempon asimili tio.

Jes mi ankaŭ ŝatas ke ri estas pli preciza. Mi ŝatas esti preciza sed mi ankaŭ ŝatas ke "ĝi" estas tradicia kaj komprenebla por ĉiuj. Mi ne scias, eble se ri iĝas populara mi uzos ĝin.
I'm a bit frustrated bc I see that Duolingo teaches the -ino to mark the feminine, it already pisses me off in french but I also saw the -uno to mark masculine (gender reform?) so that's everything else is neutral? How is it today?
